Introducing Work Time by WPKitchen

A Summer Workspace Program for Freelancers

Every summer in Pakistan brings an invisible challenge for freelancers.

Extreme heat, unreliable electricity, and lack of proper workspaces quietly reduce productivity for many talented professionals working from home. For freelancers who rely on consistent focus and stable environments, these conditions can directly affect their income and career growth.

WPKitchen has been working to support freelancers through small, practical community programs. Over time, we have introduced initiatives like:

  • Lunch Time – sponsored homemade meals for freelancers working from coworking spaces
  • Treat Time – weekly lunch giveaways sponsored by supporters and selected by WordPress community members
  • Tea Time – small community moments connected to WordCamp experiences
  • Meet Time – local gatherings where freelancers meet, network, and reduce professional isolation

Each of these programs addresses a different part of the freelancer journey: nourishment, connection, and belonging.

Now we are taking the next step.

Introducing: Work Time by WPKitchen

To provide stable, professional work environments for remote freelancers, particularly WordPress professionals.

In many regions of Pakistan, WordPressers work from homes that often lack air-conditioning, reliable electricity, a professional workspace, and regular peer interaction. During peak summer months, these conditions significantly reduce productivity and stability for independent professionals.

Work Time by WPKitchen (Summer Season) helps address this by enabling access to air‑conditioned coworking spaces with reliable infrastructure.

TARGET PEOPLE

  • Remote freelancers (primarily WordPress professionals)
  • Remote developers and designers
  • Independent IT professionals working from home

LOCAL COMMUNITY CONTEXT

Our local freelancers and WordPress community currently includes 500+ active freelancers.

The coworking workspace we partner with has seating capacity for approximately 80 professionals, meaning the infrastructure already exists to support growth beyond the initial cohort.

The first summer Work Time cohort will begin with 10 WordPressers, allowing us to test the model, document impact, and refine the program before expanding access to more members of the community.

EXPECTED RESULT (SUCCESS DEFINITION)

  • Pilot cohort: 10 WordPressers supported for 6 months (April ~ September)
  • Regular coworking attendance
  • Increased productivity and collaboration
  • Reduced professional isolation
  • Stronger local freelancer community and WordPress ecosystem

KEY STEPS (FIRST 5 ACTIONS)

  • Define eligibility criteria for freelancers
