Launched on 17 November 2023, WPKitchen is celebrating three years of supporting freelancers, encouraging WordPress contributions, and bringing communities together through food and workspaces.
Last year, we celebrated our second anniversary in Faisalabad. This year, we want to celebrate our third anniversary nationwide, reaching our community across Pakistan.
Our core program provides subsidized lunches to freelancers and WordPress contributors working in coworking spaces, starting in Pakistan with plans to expand across Asia. Alongside this, we run seven community programs today.
Through lunch programs, tea giveaways, coworking support, community meetups, interviews, and contributor activities, WPKitchen continues to explore how something as simple as sharing food can bring people together.
Our Journey in Figures
Since launching in November 2023, WPKitchen has reached important milestones with the support of sponsors, volunteers, freelancers, and community members.
Here is a look at what we have built together:
- 400+ subsidized lunches delivered
- 120+ cups of tea shared during WordCamps
- 35+ sponsors and hosts who believed in our work
- 500+ freelancers and 70+ active WordPressers are part of our community
- 4+ coworking spaces reached through our programs
- 100+ community participants from different countries
- 20+ sponsored community giveaways organized
- 25+ home kitchens involved in preparing lunches for our members

We would like to thank Adeel Javaid, Abu Bakar, and Shane Bishop once again for their support in bringing this idea to life. We are grateful to everyone who has been part of this journey.
How Last Year’s Anniversary Helped Us Grow
Our second anniversary became an important milestone for WPKitchen.
Acknowledgment
Last year, Matt Mullenweg supported WPKitchen through Jetpack in celebrating our second anniversary. That support helped bring the local WordPress and freelancer community together and became the starting point for our local meetup series.
Since then, we have hosted five community meetups and one WordPress Campus Connect event. We are now preparing to host our first women-focused WordPress meetup as well.
We are grateful to Matt for his support, which helped make these opportunities possible. It showed us how an anniversary celebration can become the starting point for activities that continue to benefit a community long after the event itself.

Alongside our food and community programs, WPKitchen’s Work Time program has supported WordPress contributors through subsidized workspace.
Six Months of Supporting WordPress Contributors
From April to September 2026, our contributor reports recorded the following impact figures:
- 5,235 translations approved
- 83 photos approved
- 7 monthly in-person contributor meetings
— (Meetings: One, Two, Three, Four, Five, Six, Seven) - 3 courses completed by contributors
- 1 new WordPress plugin created: Contributors Team by WPKitchen
- 1 community meetup — Photos + Video
- 8 interviews conducted
These activities reflect the efforts of community members who continue to learn, collaborate, and contribute to the wider WordPress ecosystem.
Our aim is to make it easier for people to participate in WordPress, develop their skills, and contribute to a project used around the world.
Taking Our Third Anniversary Nationwide
For our third anniversary, we want to do something bigger. We want to take the celebration beyond Faisalabad and reach freelancers and WordPress community members across Pakistan.
Inspired by our Tea Time program, which brings people together during WordCamps in different cities, we plan to share sponsored lunch treats with community members nationwide.
Our goal is to share Upto 100 sponsored lunches, with the initiative running from October through the end of November 2026.
The idea is simple: give people an opportunity to enjoy a meal and take part in the celebration, even if they cannot attend an in-person meetup.
Whether someone is working from a coworking space, freelancing from home, or contributing to WordPress from another city, we want them to feel connected to the wider community.
To commemorate our second anniversary, we’ll celebrate our 3rd anniversary with our local Work Time contributors only — at a small, in-person meetup.
We believe that gifting a meal can be a small but meaningful way to bring people together and celebrate.
How Sponsorship Will Help
We’re looking for four main sponsors to make this anniversary celebration possible. We call them the Fantastic Four.
Sponsorship will help cover the cost of lunches and operations, allowing us to reach more community members across Pakistan.
To become one of our Fantastic Four sponsors, please contact us through our Contact Us page.
Transparency and Accountability
We believe sponsors should be able to see how their contributions are used.
We plan to document sponsored lunches through food photos and relevant order details, sharing updates on our website and social media channels.
We will protect participants’ personal information when sharing order records. Sponsors will also be acknowledged alongside the initiative and participating community members, where appropriate.
Our aim is to keep the initiative transparent while respecting the privacy of everyone involved.
Three Years Down, More Good to Do
WPKitchen’s third anniversary is a chance to celebrate what our community has achieved and consider what we can accomplish together next.
We are thankful to everyone who has sponsored a meal or tea, prepared food, sponsored or participated in a program, contributed to WordPress, or helped another freelancer or contributor along the way.
With the support of our fantastic sponsors, we hope to share upto 100 lunches across Pakistan and make this anniversary a celebration that reaches beyond one city.
Would you like to help us make it happen?
