Track, manage, and showcase community contributions
Contributors Team is a WordPress plugin designed to help WordPress communities, organizations, contributor programs, and community websites collect, manage, document, and showcase contributor activity in one place.
Instead of keeping contribution records scattered across spreadsheets, forms, screenshots, and community messages, Contributors Team creates a structured contribution system directly inside WordPress.
Contributors can submit their work through a frontend form, while administrators can review and manage submissions from the WordPress dashboard. The plugin can also connect submitted contributors with their public WordPress.org profiles, bringing their name, username, biography, and avatar into their contributor profile.
Built for WordPress Contributors
WordPress communities depend on contributions of many different kinds.
A contribution might be:
- A translation
- A support forum reply
- A meetup participation
- Documentation
- Code
- Learn WordPress activity
- Photography
- Community participation
- Other volunteer or contributor work
Contributors Team provides a simple way to record these activities and build a visible history of community participation.
The goal is simple:
Make community contributions visible, organized, and easier to recognize.
How Contributors Team Works
The plugin follows a simple contribution workflow.
1. Submit a contribution
A contributor submits their contribution through a frontend form.
The form collects information such as:
- Name
- WordPress.org username
- Contribution type
- Contribution title
- Contribution link
- Estimated time spent
- Contribution date
- Screenshot or proof
The contributor also confirms that their name and contribution details may be publicly shared.
Once submitted, the contribution is saved as Pending Review, allowing the site administrator to review it before it becomes part of the public contribution record.
2. Connect the contributor with WordPress.org
When a WordPress.org username is submitted, Contributors Team checks the public WordPress.org contributor profile.
If the contributor does not already exist in the local contributor database, the plugin can retrieve profile information from WordPress.org and create a contributor profile inside WordPress.
The profile can include:
- Contributor name
- WordPress.org username
- Biography
- Avatar
- WordPress.org profile information
The plugin can also download the contributor avatar and store it in the WordPress Media Library.
This means communities do not need to manually create every contributor profile from scratch.
3. Review and manage contributions
Administrators can manage submitted contributions from the WordPress dashboard.
Each contribution can contain:
- Contributor username
- Contribution type
- Contribution title
- Contribution link
- Time spent
- Contribution date
- Screenshot or proof
Administrators can review, edit, approve, and organize contribution records using WordPress’s familiar content management interface.
Contributor Profiles
Every contributor can have a dedicated profile on the website.
A contributor profile can display:
- Profile photo
- Contributor name
- WordPress.org username
- Biography
- WordPress.org profile link
- Contribution categories
- Contribution history
- Contribution dates
- Screenshots and proof
- Links to individual contributions
The profile is designed to turn individual contribution records into a public contribution portfolio.
Instead of simply saying that someone contributed to a project, the website can show a history of the work they submitted.
Contribution History
Contributors Team organizes contribution records by contribution type.
Supported contribution types in the current plugin include:
Code
Track development and code-related contributions.
Translations
Record translation contributions and link them to the relevant contribution page.
Support Forum
Document participation in WordPress support forums.
Meetups
Record meetup participation and community involvement.
Documentation
Track documentation-related contributions.
Learn WordPress
Record Learn WordPress activities.
Photos
Store photography contributions and display submitted images as part of the contributor’s contribution history.
Other
The plugin’s contributor system also includes an Other category for contribution records that do not fit the primary categories.
Contribution Timeline
Contributor profiles can present contribution activity as a chronological history.
Each contribution can include:
- Contribution type
- Date
- Title
- Contribution link
- Time spent
- Supporting screenshot or image
This creates a simple timeline of a contributor’s involvement.
For example:
September 2026
Translation contribution
8 hours
August 2026
Support Forum contribution
3 hours
July 2026
Meetup participation
2 hours
The result is a contribution record that is much easier for community members and organizers to understand.
Screenshots and Proof
Contributors can upload screenshots or other visual proof with their submissions.
The plugin currently supports common image formats including:
- JPG
- JPEG
- PNG
- WebP
Uploaded images are added to the WordPress Media Library and associated with the contribution.
This provides communities with a simple way to preserve evidence of contribution activity.
For photography contributions, the plugin can also display the submitted image as part of the contributor’s profile.
WordPress.org Integration
One of the key features of Contributors Team is its connection with public WordPress.org contributor profiles.
When a contributor submits their WordPress.org username, the plugin can retrieve profile information from WordPress.org.
This can include:
- Display name
- Username
- Biography
- Avatar
- WordPress.org profile information
The plugin then stores the retrieved information locally as part of the contributor profile.
This makes it easier for communities to build contributor directories without manually entering every profile.
Contributor Directory
Contributors Team registers a public contributor profile system with a dedicated archive.
The contributor archive uses the /contributors/ URL structure.
The directory displays contributor cards containing information such as:
- Contributor avatar
- Contributor name
- WordPress.org username
- Number of recorded contributions
Visitors can select a contributor to view their profile and contribution history.
This creates a public-facing community contributor directory.
WordPress Dashboard Management
Contributors Team uses WordPress custom post types to organize its data.
The plugin creates two main content types:
Contributors
Used to store contributor profiles.
Contributions
Used to store individual contribution records.
This approach makes contribution management familiar to WordPress administrators because the information is managed using the WordPress dashboard.
Administrators can view contribution records and manage information such as:
- Contributor username
- Contribution type
- Contribution date
- Contribution link
- Time spent
- Screenshots
Contributor profiles can also contain profile information such as the contributor’s WordPress.org username, avatar, and biography.
Frontend Contribution Form
The frontend contribution form can be added to a WordPress page using:
[wpkct_contribution_form]
The form allows contributors to submit their work without requiring WordPress dashboard access.
The submission process includes security verification and input sanitization.
After submission, the contributor receives a success or error message, while the site administrator receives an email notification about the new contribution.
Contribution Review Workflow
Contributors Team is designed around a simple review process:
Contributor submits contribution
↓
WordPress.org profile is checked
↓
Contributor profile is created or matched
↓
Contribution is saved as Pending Review
↓
Administrator reviews the submission
↓
Contribution can become part of the contributor’s public record
This workflow gives community organizers an opportunity to verify contribution records before publishing them.
Who Can Use Contributors Team?
Contributors Team can be useful for:
WordPress Communities

Why Track Contributions?
Community contribution is often difficult to measure.
A person may spend hours translating strings, answering support questions, documenting a project, attending meetups, taking photographs, testing software, or contributing code.
Without a structured record, much of that work can disappear into individual platforms and conversations.
Contributors Team provides a central place to document that work.
It helps communities move from:
“We know people are contributing.”
to:
“Here is a visible record of what they contributed.”

Built for Recognition, Not Just Record Keeping
Contributors Team is more than a submission form.
It is designed to help communities recognize the people behind the work.
Every translation, meetup, support reply, documentation update, photo, learning activity, and code contribution represents time and effort from a real person.
By bringing these contributions together, communities can create a living record of participation and give contributors a place where their work can be seen.
A Contribution Portfolio for Your Community
Imagine a community website where every contributor has a profile showing:
Who they are
What they contributed
When they contributed
How much time they invested
Where the contribution can be viewed
And supporting proof when available
That is the idea behind Contributors Team.
Collect contributions.
Verify contributions.
Organize contributions.
Showcase contributors.
