OUR STORY
The EWWW Image Optimizer started in 2012 when I saw a need for a reliable image optimization plugin for shared hosting sites. After forking the CW Image Optimizer, EWWW IO quickly gained traction with 500 downloads in a week. As the user base grew, I bundled tools like jpegtran, optipng, and gifsicle, but the variety of hosting environments posed challenges.
To solve this, I launched the Compress API on September 24, 2013, making image optimization accessible to all by offloading the process to third-party servers. Inspired by my grandfather's passion for helping others, I’ve always aimed to support users in optimizing their websites. Today, EWWW IO helps make websites faster, whether it’s for work, a hobby, or a passion.
