Season 2 — A Subsidized Workspace Program for WordPress Contributors
Every summer in Pakistan brings an invisible challenge for WordPress contributors.
Extreme heat, unreliable electricity, and a lack of suitable workspaces can make it difficult for contributors to focus on their work, participate in community activities, and contribute consistently to WordPress.
WPKitchen created Work Time to address this challenge by providing subsidized coworking access for WordPress contributors in Faisalabad, Pakistan.
Through practical community programs, WPKitchen supports nourishment, connection, and participation. Work Time focuses on providing contributors with a suitable environment to work, learn, collaborate, and strengthen the WordPress ecosystem.
Our Local Community
Our local freelancers and WordPress community includes more than 500 active freelancers, providing a strong foundation for contributor development and community participation.
The coworking space we partner with has seating capacity for approximately 80 professionals. This existing infrastructure gives us an opportunity to support WordPress contributors without building new facilities.
Work Time prioritizes contributors who want to participate in WordPress projects, develop their skills, collaborate with peers, and contribute to the wider community.
Season 1: April–September 2026
During its first six months, Work Time combined subsidized workspace support with opportunities for WordPress contribution, learning, and collaboration.
Six Months of Impact
- 5,235 translations approved
- 83 photos approved
- 7 monthly in-person contributor meetings (One, Two, Three, Four, Five, Six, Seven)
- 3 courses completed by contributors
- 1 new WordPress plugin created: Contributors Team by WPKitchen
- 1 community meetup — Photos + Video
- 8 interviews conducted
One significant milestone was the growth of Jetpack Urdu translation coverage from 8% to 44%, an increase of 36 percentage points.
These results demonstrate the contribution and learning activities documented during Season 1.
