This 20th Treat Time lunch story is a little different from our regular giveaway lunches.
This lunch was sponsored by Usama Ijaz, and our honorary guest, Muhibul Haque, selected Qursam Fatima from the WordPress Pakistan community in Pakpattan as the winner.
As we continue improving our giveaway process, we are now mostly sharing Foodpanda vouchers with winners instead of digital money. This makes the lunch process easier, more focused, and more transparent.
However, Foodpanda does not operate in Qursam Fatima’s area. So, instead of sending her a voucher that she could not use, we asked if she would like to share or forward her lunch to someone else from our community.
She chose Muhammad Usman from Faisalabad, and we successfully delivered the lunch to him.
This experience taught us an important lesson: we need to be more flexible with our lunch delivery process.
Going forward, our first priority will remain Foodpanda lunch vouchers. If Foodpanda operates in the winner’s city or area, we will prefer to provide the winner with a Foodpanda voucher rather than sending digital money. We believe this keeps the Treat Time process focused on its main purpose: sharing an actual lunch.
However, if Foodpanda does not operate in the winner’s area, we are considering a more flexible option. In such cases, we may send the lunch amount directly to the winner so they can purchase lunch from a local restaurant or food service in their city and share the lunch photo and invoice with us. This way, they remain the original winner and can still enjoy their sponsored lunch.
At the same time, we believe that sharing or forwarding your lunch to someone else in the community is still a beautiful idea. It creates another opportunity to connect, share, and make someone else’s day a little better.
That is what Treat Time is ultimately about: sharing food, supporting freelancers, and bringing the WordPress community closer together.
